This Call encourages applications from the astronomical community to propose Additional Programme projects. Successful proposers will have access to the data according to the Scientific Policy and Data Rights Document.

The Corot Mission is described at http://corot.oamp.fr . Instrumental parameters and mission properties needed to reply to this AO are summarized in the Instrument Handbook (click on Observations and The Instrument) at http://corotsol.obspm.fr/web-instrum/payload.param/index.html, and more details can be found in the book: The CoRoT Mission, ESA SP-1306 (October 2006)

The Additional Programme of COROT addresses any scientific case not included in the Core Programme. The Core Programme is defined by seismology in the seismology field and planet search in the exoplanet field. It has two components:

1 – 150 day long observing runs devoted to asteroseismology and planet search, pointing to the galactic centre direction (LRc) or anticentre direction (LRa)

2 – short runs (SRc or SRa) of about 20 to 30 days.

Presently, COROT is observing LRc02, which will be followed by SRc02 (September 2008), Sra02 (October 2008) and LRa02 (November 2008).

A preliminary description of these and following pointings are given at: http://calys.obspm.fr/%7Ecorotswg/OBSplanning.html

More precise positions will be posted soon on the site http://Corot.oamp.fr under Observations.

There are 3 possibilities to apply within the Additional Programme for access to COROT data corresponding to different types of observations:

1 – data from the Core Programme (new runs and preceding ones still in the proprietary time)

2 – data from specific windows in the seismology and exoplanet field during long runs to come

3 – data from specific short runs to come

In case of overlap with Additional Programmes that have been approved after the first AO, applicants are encouraged to contact the PI of the respective AP project either directly or select „Status = overlap with approved programme“ in the filled AO webform

Deadline for submission of new programmes is

September, 15. 2008

The COROT Scientific Committee (CSC) will examine responses to the AO. The decision will be published not later than October 13, 2008, and all applicants will be notified by email.

The CSC is free to use data for other purposes than defined in the respective proposal.
